NameDays And iNameDays New Press Releases Are Out

One of the steps that must be taken when releasing a new version of a product is to write a press release and submit it to a few good press release sites. Now when both NameDays and iNameDays are updated for 2012, we also have new press releases for them.

In both press releases we of course mention the news: the name days for the year 2012 and the addition of the French name days. Earlier we covered only 2010 and 2011, so an upgrade to 2012 was necessary now that we are soon there. We are happy that we also could add the name days for France this time, and it is our ambition to add more countries in future releases.

The NameDays press release begins with a quote that expresses the delight people often feel when someone remembers their name day. This is something we hear a lot from grateful NameDays users. We also mention that this free product can be used not only with Outlook but also with iCal, Yahoo! or Google Calendar.

iNameDays press release
In the iNameDays press release we explain why the iNameDays icon has number 23 on it. The app that puts name days in the default calendar of iPad, iPod touch and iPad was the first app from kalmstrom.com Business Solutions, and even if you have to pay a small sum to get it from App Store it has become very popular. There are more name days apps on the market, but as far as we know iNameDays is the only one that does not create a new calendar but instead puts the name days in the calendar people use for other notes and appointments.

Congratulations To kalmstrom.com Matriarch With New iNameDays

The beautiful old woman in the photo is my mother, Ingalill. Today is her name day, and as we consider Ingalill the kalmstrom.com Matriarch we are happy to give her a special gift for the iPad she uses every day: the 2012 version of iNameDays, which was approved for release a few hours ago ‒ right on time!

iNameDays is an app you may all share with Ingalill. It adds name days to the default iOS calendar, which is the calendar you normally use in your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. You don't have to create a separate calendar to see the name days of your choice. This year we have added the French name days, so now you have 14 name days (+ Swedish week numbers) to select from.

I have earlier mentioned Ingalill's great interest for new technologies in the blog post post "... 93 years old and loves her iPad". Another interest is picking mushrooms, and in the photo she is preparing mushrooms she has herself picked in the woods. As you understand this spirited Matriarch is a great source of inspiration to the younger members of the kalmstrom.com clan! Our warm congratulations!

Farewell To Apple Innovator And Visionaire

The day after Apple presented their new iPhone, I heard the sad news that Steve Jobs had passed away. The news was given to me by kalmstrom.com Lead Deveoper Jayant Rimza together with a quote from eBay India: "You left a mark on our eyes, ears and fingers. RIP Steve Jobs."

Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak founded Apple in 1976, after these two visionaries had built the Apple 1 logic board in a garage and Jobs had sold his minibus to get startup money. The road has not been smooth, but with Jobs as CEO, Apple has become one of the major players in our business and an important competitor to Microsoft.

The reactions to Steve Jobs' death have been extensive. Politicians and company leaders as well as common users of the Apple products have paid tribute to Steve Jobs, and people have gathered in Apple stores around the world. President Obama called the Apple cofounder one of America’s greatest innovators and praised him for having changed the way each of us sees the world.

Even though kalmstrom.com Business Solutions mostly develop for Microsoft platforms, we are grateful for the existence of Apple. The rivalry between these two giants has given us all better products. Microsoft founder Bill Gates says about his friend: "The world rarely sees someone who has had the profound impact Steve has had, the effects of which will be felt for many generations to come."

ShareTask Published At App Store - Cooperate on SharePoint Tasks While Mobile

The kalmstrom.com team gets new reasons to celebrate every day! This time we are happy that ShareTask has been approved and is up for sale at App Store. This app lets you manage your SharePoint tasks directly in your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, and I think it will be very popular. Community Members who use our incident management tool HelpDesk OSP will of course make use of ShareTask, but we think many others will also find it convenient. ShareTask is an app for all who want to be able to continue working with SharePoint task items while on the run.

ShareTask is not just an app that connects to a SharePoint site, but it actually puts the list in the iOS device. It is designed to be easy to handle with a finger, but a keyboard may of course also be used. ShareTask uses many standard iOS features, that every iPhone or iPad owner is familiar with, and on top of them we have added the extras that make this app so special.

kalmstrom.com Business Solutions has developed ShareTask in cooperation with softage.ru. kalmstrom.com CEO Peter had the idea ‒ of course! ‒ and figured out how make it reality. Then softage developer Alexander Songolov together with QA engineer Alena Prokudina and graphic designer Jitendra Joshi from kalmstrom.com did most of the work. ShareTask Icon Ready For App Store

Work continues on ShareTask, and today I can show you the application icon. ShareTask is the kalmstrom.com app that will make it possible to handle SharePoint lists in iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. You may use any list and view with ShareTask, and you can add, edit and delete items and also upload photos to SharePoint directly from the camera in your smart phone. 

 I hope you agree that the ShareTask icon is nice to look at and easy to recognize. It also says something important about the app ‒ reach your SharePoint lists where ever you travel around the globe and manage them with a finger. The globe is the same as the one we use for the new HelpDesk OSP icon. I am glad that we have such a memorable icon to use for the presentation on iTunes App Store and on the kalmstrom.com website.

A team of three, QA and designer from kalmstrom.com and a programmer from Softage.ru, work closely together on this app. The rest of the kalmstrom.com team is also more or less involved, in everything from design discussions to programming assistance. We all look forward to seeing this second kalmstrom.com product for iOS on the market!

kalmstrom.com Website Enhancement Continues - Learn About Services And iOS Apps

The kalmstrom.com website is continuously improved, and now we have two new pages and a new homepage for the English section. On the homepage we tell about the most important part of the business: our standard products built on Microsoft Office, Exchange and SharePoint. The new pages instead describe the company's two other "legs".

kalmstrom.com Business Solutions was born when Peter worked as a consultant and created custom solutions for his clients. When others wanted something similar he begun selling standard products also. This was more than ten years ago, and the custom solutions have been with us all the time. The third leg is new ‒ because the possibility is new! kalmstrom.com has begun developing apps for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, and it will be interesting to see where they will take us. Today I want to introduce you to the kalmstrom.com Matriarch. Ingalill is my mother, Peter's grandmother and Oliver's great grandmother ‒ and just as keen on IT as the rest of the family.

Ingalill is now 93 years old but still going strong. As soon as the first iPad was released in the US Peter bought her one. Nowadays she gets a bit tired sitting at the computer, but the iPad suits her like a glove! Welcome to see more in this video from Swedish television.

ShareTask - Manage Your SharePoint Task List While On The Run

In earlier blogs I have told you about about the re-design of HelpDesk OSP, the kalmstrom.com application that connects SharePoint to Outlook. Today I can present the first image of ShareTask, another great product for SharePoint users. ShareTask connects SharePoint to iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, so with this app in the smart phone you can work with your SharePoint Tasks while travelling, waiting for the dentist, seeing a boring TV show ‒ you name it.

ShareTask will work with all kinds of SharePoint lists. With ShareTask you may add, edit and delete SharePoint list items directly in your iOS device. You may change item status, add new comments and upload images from the camera or gallery to SharePoint.

HelpDesk OSP users will of course find ShareTask very convenient, but this app is an independent product. It does not require anything more than iOS, SharePoint and an internet connection. We hope many will discover and use this ingenious little app, which gives users an advantage that we so far not have seen on the market.

Buyers All Over The World Want Name Days In Their Default iOS Calendar

One week ago iNameDays, the first iOS app from kalmstrom.com Business Solutions, was published at the iTunes App Store. iNameDays adds name days to the default iOS calendar, not to a separate calendar as other apps do.

iTunes gives us sales reports for iNameDays each day, and most interesting is the information about what countries the buyers come from. It turns out that we in one week have sold iNameDays to iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users in no less than 19 countries: Brazil, China, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and USA. News travel fast these days!

iNameDays published at App Store

Today the kalmstrom.com team celebrates that the iOS app iNameDays was published at the iTunes App Store. We are happy that our little app was accepted at once and hope that many will find it useful. With iNameDays you get the name days in your default iOS calendar, where you have your other calendar info. There are several other apps that can give you name days in a separate calendar, but as far as we know  iNameDays is the only one one the market that uses the default one.

Everyone can afford iNameDays, because the cost is very low, 0, 79 EUR or 0,99 USD, and you may pay in many different currencies. In the image we show the price in Swedish crowns, and for Swedish users of iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch we also offer Swedish week numbers. Week numbers are often used for business planning in Sweden, so we think many will appreciate this addition to their smart phone calendar.

iNameDays was developed in co-operation with our partner Softage.ru, and developer Alexander Songolov did a great job. Our QA Engineer Alena Prokudina managed the difficult task of writing specifications and coordinating the work, and graphic artist Iuliana Urechi helped us with the design and transformed our ideas into something better.

The co-operation with Softage will continue, and we are now working on a SharePoint Task Editor for iOS. More about that one in a later blog ...

Las Vegas Great But CES A Disappointment

Once again Peter is giving you some impressions from a journey. This time he went to Las Vegas, and as you can see above he had some fun there also! Welcome to read his report:

"I have finally settled down after a rather hectic 8 days trip to the US. It was interesting and very enjoyable. The main reason for going was to visit the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, which is something I have been wanting to do for many years now. I have been to CEBIT in Germany several times, but CES was a first for me. My son Joakim also joined in on the trip, and as it was his first such show at all our hopes were high!

We had a great time, but the conclusion for me is that the internet is a much better place for really seeing something new. There was nothing new at CES that I had not read about online before. However, I did meet some interesting people and found some ideas that might become new kalmstrom.com business ventures in the future.

Some other conclusions I came to:

• iOS rules the handheld marketplace and will continue to do for quite some time. Android is highly questionable from a usability standpoint, and Windows Mobile 7 was hardly even mentioned at CES. On both smart-phones and tablets Apple is far ahead. It will be extremely interesting to see what Microsoft and Google can come up with, once they catch up in a few years. I am delighted with the direction that iOS is taking software usage in general: usability, focus on the 80% functionality that really matters and mobility.
• 3D TVs, no matter how large, do not really impress me at all. 3D PC screens with NVidia gaming gear, that is impressive and worth looking at. Since I don´t play games it is nothing for me, but Joakim was quite enthusiastic about it!
• There is a huge number of hardware manufacturers doing the same thing. I am sure they are all very competent, but the lack of diversity in hardware is a bit sad to see.

Las Vegas is great, except for the gaming areas ;-) We ate at some nice restaurants and especially enjoyed the desert around the city. Even if I don't think I will go back for the CES I would love to see more of that part of the US.

iNameDays Adds Name Days To Your Default iPhone Calendar

The second name days product from kalmstrom.com Business Solution will hopefully soon be released. We have had a working product for a while, but no good design. Now everything is falling into place, and I can show you how the first screen will look in an iPhone. There might still be some minor changes, but we expect to see iNameDays at App Store in the near future.

There are already several apps on the market that add name days to a separate calendar, but iNameDays will add them to the default iOS calendar instead. We know many of you are waiting for this possibility for your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, so please have patience for a while more. In the meantime you are of course welcome to use our free NameDays for your other calendars.
